OUR STORY
IT STARTED WITH A GAP AND A DECISION TO STEP IN
WHERE IT BEGAN
The Vincent House was born out of a simple but urgent need voiced by families in the Middlebury neighborhood: There weren’t enough safe, structured opportunities for kids after school.
Parents needed space for their children to go. Students needed positive environments to grow. And the community needed something consistent.
What started as a response to that gap has grown into something much bigger.
Why it matters
Middlebury is a neighborhood full of resilience, potential, and strong families—but it has also been shaped by years of systemic disinvestment.
Many students face barriers that impact their education, stability, and opportunities.
Without consistent support, those challenges compound over time.
But when young people have access to safe spaces, mentorship, and community, their trajectory changes.
What it’s become
Today, The Vincent House walks alongside youth from kindergarten through graduation—providing consistent programming, mentorship, and family support.
What began as a solution for after-school care has become a growing ecosystem of opportunity:
Expanded from 45 to 75 students
Grown from K–5 to a full K–8 continuum
Launched new programs in sports, dance, and recreation
Strengthened support systems for families
And we’re still growing.
What drives us
At the center of everything we do is relationship. Not quick fixes. Not temporary programs. But showing up—day after day, year after year, for the same kids and families. Because that’s what creates lasting change.
“The Vincent House has been a blessing to my family and me. It has provided many opportunities for my children that they would not have otherwise had access to. In these activities, my children have found interests that will last a lifetime and friends that have become more like family.”
