Our work is rooted in the belief that strong relationships with children and families are at the heart of lasting neighborhood impact. We strive to create an environment where children feel known, safe, and encouraged, and where families experience partnership, trust, and support.
Role Overview
We are seeking an Associate Director who will serve as the operational leader of The Vincent House while also modeling the relational culture that defines our work with children and
families. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Associate Director helps translate the organization’s vision into daily operations by supervising Site Managers, maintaining regulatory compliance, and overseeing the systems that support both our programs and facility.
This leader will also play an important role in modeling best practices for engaging K-12 students and building healthy relationships with families, helping staff create environments where children feel supported academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Associate Director helps ensure that staff are equipped, programs run smoothly, and children and families experience consistent care and connection.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership
The Associate Director provides leadership and coaching to Site Managers and program staff, helping them lead programs that are structured, relational, and responsive to the needs of children and families.
Responsibilities include:
Conducting regular check-ins and leadership coaching with Site Managers.
Supporting staff in creating positive, structured environments for K-12 students.
Modeling healthy interactions with children that reflect patience, respect, and
encouragement.
Helping staff develop practical skills for mentoring students, resolving conflict, and
building trust with young people.
Supporting staff in forming strong relationships with parents and caregivers.
Conducting performance evaluations and reinforcing clear expectations.
Cultivating a healthy team culture aligned with the mission and values of Citizens Akron
Church.
The Associate Director helps ensure staff are supported, accountable, and equipped to care well for children and families.
Compliance & Licensing
The Associate Director oversees key regulatory systems that allow The Vincent House to operate with integrity and accountability.
Responsibilities include:
Serving as the primary operational lead for ODJFS childcare licensing and regulatory compliance.
Maintaining organized, audit-ready documentation for inspections and licensing reviews.
Ensuring staff certifications, ratios, and safety procedures remain in compliance with state standards.
Overseeing Publicly Funded Child Care (PFCC) administration, including attendance tracking and reimbursement through KinderConnect.
Managing documentation and requirements for Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) to maintain high program standards.
These systems help ensure children receive care in a safe, accountable, and high-quality environment.
Operations & Facilities
The Associate Director partners closely with the Executive Director to steward the Vincent House facility and operational systems, ensuring the environment supports children, families, and staff.
Responsibilities include:
Overseeing building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, internet, and security to ensure safe and reliable operations.
Coordinating repairs, improvements, and facility upgrades when needed.
Managing vendor relationships for services such as cleaning, landscaping, and specialized maintenance.
Implementing and maintaining preventative maintenance systems to protect the building and avoid costly emergencies.
Maintaining maintenance records and service documentation.
Managing the building calendar to coordinate programs, church activities, and community partnerships effectively.
The goal is to maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-organized space where children and families feel comfortable and valued.
